Okay, so your computer is running slow and displaying errors about the registry or important files. What do you need to do now? Don’t take an axe to your computer and tear it to pieces, not a good idea. What you need to do is go check out a program known as Registry Easy. This registry cleaner is awesome and it also comes with a free trial. If it finds that your computer has errors, then you know for sure that you need to buy the program to get your computer running like new again. If not, then it turns out that you don’t need a registry cleaner for now. This makes certain that you don’t waste your money or time on something that you don’t need to buy.
So what the heck is my registry? Basically on your computer there is a data cache with specific instructions for programs and files and it tells them how to run the right way. If this group of files gets messed up or corrupted, then you are left in a bad position. You will be able to identify registry problems if you are noticing a slow computer, error messages, errors about missing files, your computer crashing, and just running programs with problems in general. If it turns out that you have any of these symptoms, then you need something like Registry Easy.
If you are unsure about if you need the program, like I said before, they offer it free at first. If you find out from the Registry Easy Download scan that your computer has errors and you need the program, then its time to pull out your wallet. Think of this little process as getting your car fixed at your local shop. If the mechanic says your engine is going to blow up, you are not going to tell him its not a big deal. No, if you are smart, you will get it fixed asap. Don’t risk crashing your computer and get the registry fixed today. Instead of reading anymore about what I think, why not check out what the pros think in the Registry Easy review.

Examine RegClean. Read the RegClean Review. Compare it to other registry cleaner reviews at ReviewMOZ.org such as RegGenie, RegistryFix, RegTOOL and FixCleaner.

If you are anything like most players on WoW, then you literally cannot stand the time it takes to trying to level a new character up to level 80 on WoW. World of Warcraft is a great game to play, but there is the small problem that you won’t be able to fully enjoy the game until you are level 80. I’ll bet that you didn’t know that some of these leveling guides contain the knowledge to help you level to 80 in less than 7 days? It’s true, and the cool part is that they now offer in game mods, so you don’t have to minimize anything to see what you need to do next.
The biggest name in the leveling guide industry is Zygor or John Cook. Zygor made his Zygor leveling guide for players who need to skip passed all the boring stuff and get straight to level 80. You wont have to randomly accept quests that are made to make your game time last longer or second guess any more moves. Zygor guide has basically three main points, what to avoid and how to level fast and properly. The unique feature with this guide is that it will allows for you to dynamically insert any level character into the leveling guide, it will make the guide suit to your level.
But don’t take my word for it, read what the professionals think about it in the Zygor leveling guide review. On that page you’ll find not only the review, but in game pictures of the guide actually being used, and customer testimonials from forums, not from the sales page. This is an unique approach at reviewing a product and allows you to see how the guide actually is. They don’t try to sell you on the product, they are just offering their insight on how the guide functioned. Instead of wasting your time and money, you get to see if its worth it. Best of luck in your leveling quest and happy WoW playing to you!

Compare Zygor to other popular leveling guides at ReviewMOZ.org. Look at Team Idemise Leveling Guide: It has an industry leading reputation and a 60 day return policy. Read the Team Idemise Leveling Guide Review at ReviewMOZ.org.

Online Poker Strategy that will work for Any Player
More folks are playing internet-based poker, not withstanding its legal issues. Whether or not you are a pro vet, a non-professional who just starts playing, or somewhere between, you would like to augment your poker game steadily so that you can win more than you lose. Without the correct techniques, you can make certain that you will be outmatched by other players who also excited to take your precious cash. Your game methodology, blended with the correct tools like pot wierd calculators, lots of practice, and luck will make you a better poker player. These are some helpful tips that could help enhance your poker abilities : Play tight. This is the best information for noobs, period. Mull it over, poker is a game of numbers, unless the game is rigged, players who happen to hold the best hand at the start will win lots of the time.

The idea of playing tight is to permit you make a straightforward call whether to double or hold your cards in each gambling round. However many beginner players aren’t patient to attend for these cards to come, so they are playing rubbish hands that only empty their bankroll. So next time you sit in an internet poker room, choose a room that is stuffed full of loose players who will unconsciously give you their money. Focus on your position.

Poker is also a mind game that needs concentration, great memory, and a gift to bluff. It’s true that player who act last will have a larger benefit over other poker players who act before him. This is as he has got an opportunity to observe others ‘ reaction before he should make any call, so it’s a neat idea to play more hands in late position and ditch nearly all your hands when you’re in early position. Again, the concept of this poker system is to permit your decision-making process far easier in each gambling round. Pay more notice on drawing hands. You have to understand at every point how many cards will help you to make that great combo and beat your opponents. As an example, 5-6-7-8 will have a bigger possibility of making a straight than 5-7-8-9. The rationale is definitely clear, 5-6-7-8 will make a straight with 4 AND 9, giving you two outs, vs 5-7-8-9 which can generally make a straight ONLY with six. Knowing poker percentages at all time will make your job far less complicated whether to double or hold your hand. This is the adage, if your possibility of getting your out is bigger than the pot percentages, you must to call. From a different point of view, if your chance of getting your card is smaller, you need to double immediately. So there you have it. If you apply these strategies, you may win additional money than you lose.

There are pc.s whether your hand will win at the end and as far as I know, nothing can stop those numbers from occuring. Like I revealed earlier, experience will help you play better, and nobody can assist you in learning experience.

you’ve got to earn it on your own.

When you do, it is assured you will play poker way better. Agree with it or not, a pro player’s instinct is 70%-80% right!! Imagine having the ability to guess your opponents ‘ cards and get it right 8 times out of ten.

One of the most comprehensive poker resources on the net. Go to pokerworks.co.uk for online poker!

Im producing the following instruction once getting asked a few times with approaches to join a new notebook to your TV FOR PC. People today really want to begin for several arguments. Earliest, it truly is wonderful intended for sales pitches at the office, education, or perhaps home. It’s also handy pertaining to seeing pictures and also video clips to close friends, watching Dvds, and it is at this point possibly getting used to get seeing Blu-ray and other hd content material for the HIGHER DEFINITION TV.
First, most of us want to make certain you will be getting the the majority of through your laptop when it comes to exhibiting this within the TELEVISION SET.
Should you have a great HIGH DEFINITION by using HDMI inputs, find out if your own mobile computer features a strong HDMI expenditure. In the event that it can, you are in luck! Your current HDTV can easily display out of your mobile computer inside HARLEY-DAVIDSON promises. All you need is definitely an HDMI conductor for connecting these. If your HDTVs HDMI inputs are used up witout a doubt. A strong HDMI button are the best answer available for you. We furnish buttons which will hook up up to A FEW different HDMI resources that will ONE PARTICULAR HDMI insight.
With no a strong HDMI end result on the pc, check if it’s any DVI end result. Quite a few ASUS, and Dell laptops get these people. If you carry out, you may get in touch a person’s laptop computer in order to a good HIGHER DEFINITION TV together with a strong HDMI to DVI conductor. These are together handheld cabling consequently this will likely develop the identical HD resolutions as a common HDMI wire.
In case your computer does not own HDMI or even DVI out, the item really should have any VGA end product. Joining along with VGA is definitely able of high promises. Even so, different Tv sets help support several file sizes together with VGA. You need to verify the maximum file size a person’s TELEVISION FOR COMPUTER type sustains by using VGA.
Essentially most of laptop computers complement the S-Video end product. It isn’t really planning to become as superb of the picture, but it really will unquestionably give good results along with a S-Video cable connection.
If you have linked your current preferred cable television, shoe ” up ” the laptop and also decide if it’s discovered a person’s TELEVISION SET. Or else, you must procede with going into a person’s showcase houses and appearance for any surroundings that should empower your own TV ON PC to help screen out of your laptop. Finding your environment may fluctuate subject to ones design cards (just appearance around). For anyone who is possessing difficulties having your TV of showing the snapshot, you should have up to date the particular present owners with your notebook. Today you are likely for you to wish seem via anything aside from the notebook audio systems. So you can decide to expenditure that for a TELEVISION, or perhaps turbo charge it at your homw show sound recording receiver.
The easiest way to connect sound for a TELEVISION FOR COMPUTER as well as recipient can be through an a digital music wire. Each a digital coaxial cable tv or perhaps Toslink optical audio conductor will continue to work great with regard to sharp high quality acustic. Just make sure your laptop features the a digital coaxial or perhaps a good optical acustic end product. Many netbooks make use of the headphone jack to 2 bottle as an electronic coaxial (S/PDIF) expenditure. Take advantage of using this method, your current planning to have to have a new 3 OR MORE. 5mm that will RCA adapter with an electronic coaxial conductor. If the laptop computer provides none of them of outputs therefore you nevertheless would like which excellent appear. Fear not! You’ll be able to even now have a good outside (USB) audio greeting card with which has digital camera coaxial released and also optical released. I recommend the particular Resourceful Audio Blaster X-Fi Encircle YOUR FIVE. ONE SB1090 along with Toslink Optical music out and about.
Other ways, which will not likely require any kind of add-ons, is always to develop headphone (3. 5mm) jack on your own notebook for the RCA (red in addition to white) inputs on the TELEVISION FOR COMPUTER or perhaps recipient. To achieve this, all that’s necessary can be a SEVERAL. 5mm that will 3 RCA adapter which has an ONLY TWO RCA audio conductor.
I understand these types of cabling can seem to be confusing for you. In case you are having difficulties knowing what every cable television appears to be or perhaps find out more about any conductor, check out the Wire Instruction during CableTrain. Every one of these wires can be obtained available for you on some of our web site too. I am hoping now you can with success be connected a person’s laptop computer towards TELEVISION within the simplest way achievable!

Prices of computer hardware continues to drop in price and increase in features and functions. This is to the advantage of the consumer. However, many consumers do not take full advantage of this situation.

Point of sale equipment that is computer based follows this pattern of drops in price and increase in features. An entire industry flourishes behind a cloak of mystery regarding point of sale hardware, software and systems. In large part, business owners continue to pour money into the pockets of dealers who continue to overcharge for repair and replacement parts, including printers.

POS Printer Repair – What you get

Let’s take a look at what most people do with a broken printer. They will attempt to repair the printer through their local dealer.

A call is placed to the dealer who will ask questions of the business owner to determine if the printer is truly broken or if the problem could be a software, cable or power issue. Yes, there are truly repair calls that are solved by properly plugging the printer power supply into the electrical outlet.

If the printer is determined to be broken a technician will come to pick it up. If there is a prior agreement with the dealer a temporary loaner printer may be substituted while the repairs are done.

Many dealers have now gone to a flat-fee for printer repairs. They will charge this fee plus parts to repair the printer. Parts are charged at full list price and will range as high as $125 – $150. Charges higher than that are generally not charged as they exceed the cost of a new printer.

In total, the charge to repair a POS printer should never exceed $300 as you could get a new printer for that amount. However, a repaired printer will not carry forward the full warranty like a new printer will. You will probably only have a 30 – 90 day warranty on the repairs. That means if this same printer goes down again in 91 days you are going to have to do this all over again.

POS Printer Replacement – What you get if a dealer does it

Replacing a POS printer is much simpler and quicker than repairing. This is largely due to the fact that most dealers do not repair the printer themselves. They actually send the printer to a repair depot to be serviced remotely and then returned. This repair process can take weeks and in the worst cases a month or more.

Replacement printers are often kept in stock by local dealers. If not, they can obtain a replacement printer from one of their vendors in a day or two. However, be prepared to pay full price with a dealer margin in excess of 40%. This could easily drive the replacement cost of a POS printer to the $500 mark.

At least with a new replacement printer you will start the clock on a new warranty period. The problem with this is how much of this new warranty is passed to you by the dealer. I am sorry to say that a great many dealers will pass 1 year of the 3 years of warranty offered by the manufacturer.

POS Printer Replacement – What you get if you do it

Let’s take a look at what you get if you source the replacement printer via the Internet. You may be shocked at how easy it is and how much you get for less money.

First, you get the same printer that you get from the dealer. You may even get the printer from the same warehouse that the dealer buys from.

Next, you pay far less because you are eliminating the dealer margin. In some cases this is in excess of 40%.

Finally, you get the full manufacturer warranty. In the case of POS printers this is usually 3 years or more. What this means is that you will contact the printer manufacturer who will then direct you to the nearest warranty repair center who will repair the printer and bill the manufacturer.

Want to know the really funny part of this? In a great many cases you will find that the dealer you were doing business with is the printer warranty repair center. Remember how they only passed a year of the 3 year manufacturer warranty? That means that they charge their customers to repair the printer and still get the warranty paid for by the printer manufacturer.

DIY is easier than you think

It no longer takes certification, special training or a college degree to change out a POS printer. A 12-year old can do it without a screw driver. Then why can’t you? Only because you have not tried.

The next time you pass by your point of sale system take a look at the printer. Look at the cables in the back. There are probably a maximum of 3 cables that plug into the same connectors on the replacement printer. Each cable has a different connector and will only fit the identical plug on the replacement printer. No tools required and no training is necessary.

You wouldn’t call an electrician to replace a light bulb in a lamp and you should not call a technician to replace a POS printer.

What are printers? A printer is an output device that prints characters, symbols, and perhaps graphics on paper. The printed output is generally referred to as hardcopy because it is in relatively permanent form. Softcopy refers to temporary images such as those displayed on a monitor. Printers are categorized according to whether or not the image produced is formed by physical contact of the print mechanism with the paper. Impact printers have contact; nonimpact printers do not.

Impact printers

An impact printer has mechanisms resembling those of a typewriter. It forms characters or images by striking a mechanism such as a print hammer or wheel against an inked ribbon, leaving an image on paper. Impact printers are dying out; however, you may still come in contact with a dot-matrix printer. A dot-matrix printer contains a print head of small pins that strike an inked ribbon, forming characters or images. Print heads are available with 9, 18, or 24 pins; the 24-pin head offers the best print quality. Dot-matrix printers permit a choice between output of draft quality; a coarser-looking 72 dots per inch vertically, which may be acceptable for drafts of papers and reports, and near-letter-quality, a crisper-looking 144 dots per inch vertically, which is more suitable for a finished product to be shown to other people.

Dot-matrix printers print about 40-300 characters per second (cps) and can print some graphics, although the reproduction quality is poor. Color ribbons are available for limited use of color. Dot-matrix printers are noisy, inexpensive, and they can print through multipart forms, creating several copies of a page at the same time, which ninimpact printers cannot do.

Another type of impact printer is not used with microcomputers. Large computer installations use high-speed line printers, which print a whole line of characters at once rather a single character at a time. Some, called chain printers, contain characters on a rotating chain; others, called band printers, contain characters on a rotation band. Speeds of up to 3000 lines a minute may be possible with these machines.

Nonimpact Printers

Nonimpact printers, used almost everywhere now, are faster and quieter than impact printers because they have fewer moving parts. Nonimpact printers form characters and images without direct physical contact between the printing mechanism and the paper.

Two types of nonimpact printers often used with microcomputers are laser printers and ink-jet printers.

Laser Printer: Like a dot-matrix printer, a laser printer creates images with dots. However, as in a photocopying machine, these images are created on a drum, treated with a magnetically charged ink-like toner (powder), and then transferred from drum to paper.
- There are good reasons why laser printers are so popular. They produce sharp, crisp images of both text and graphics, providing resolutions from 300 dpi up to 1200 dpi, which is near-typeset quality (NTQ). They are quiet and fast. They can print 4-32 text-only pages per minute for individual microcomputers, and more than 120 pages per minute for mainframes. (Pages with more graphics print more slowly.) They can print in many fonts (type styles and sizes). The more expensive models can print in different colors.

- Laser printers have built-in RAM chips to store documents output from the computer. If you are working in desktop publishing and printing complicated documents with color and many graphics, you will need a printer with a lot of RAM. Laser printers also have their own ROM chips to store fonts and their own small dedicated processor. To be able to manage graphics and complex page design, a laser printer works with a page description language, a type of software that has become a standard for printing graphics on laser printers. A PDL (page description language) is software that describes the shape and position of letters and graphics to the printer. PostScript, from Adobe Systems, is one common type of page description language; HPGL, Hewlett-Packard Graphic Language, is another.

Ink-jet printer: Like laser and dot-matrix printers, ink-jet printers also form images with little dots. Ink-jet printers spray small, electrically charged droplets of ink from four nozzles through holes in a matrix at high speed onto paper.

- Ink-jet printers can print in color and are quieter and much less expensive than a color laser printer. However, they are slower and print in a somewhat lower resolution (300-720 dpi) than laser printers. Some new, expensive ink-jet printers print up 1200 or 1400 dpi. High resolution output requires the use of special coated paper, which costs more regular paper. And, if you are printing color graphics at a high resolution on an ink-jet printer, it may take 10 minutes or more for a single page finish printing.

- A variation on ink-jet technology is the bubble-jet printer, which use miniature heating elements to force specially formulated inks through print heads with 128 tiny nozzles. The multiple nozzles print fine images at high speeds. This technology is commonly used in portable printers.

Things to take into account when buying a printer, is the printer easy to set up? Easy to operate? Do I need color? or black will do? Does the manufacturer offer a good warranty and good telephone technical support? Otherwise it’s wise to own your own personal printer and get to know the answer to these questions.

You require a new printer but you do not know whether to buy an inkjet or a laser printer, as you are not aware of the differences between the two. Each user or organisation is faced with the dilemma while buying a new printer. Most customers operate under strict budgetary constraints and it is only normal to consider initial purchase costs and space limitations. However, it is prudent to take into consideration the long-term operating costs associated with the particular printer.

The choice of printer will, largely, depend on your requirements. Inkjet printers are usually ideal for home users who have limited text and photo printing needs. Laser printers are better suited to larger office environments with high-volume and high-quality printing requirements.

The differences between a laser and an inkjet printer are generally categorised into a few broad segments, namely, cost (initial and maintenance), speed, quality, space and networking facilities. It is also essential to understand the technology behind the manufacturing of the laser toners and ink cartridges as this is a major contributing factor towards the cost.

Difference in Technology & Networking Facilities between Inkjet and Laser Printers -

The technology used for inkjet cartridges is simpler and the parts are less expensive than the laser toners. The black inkjet cartridge has only black ink. The color inkjet printer contains two main ink cartridges, for black and other primary colors respectively. The primary colors are then divided into three compartments for cyan, magenta and yellow ink. The primary colors are consequently mixed to produce all other colors. The cartridge contains a reservoir which has compartments with metal plates and a number of tiny nozzles on the print head of the cartridge. The number of holes or nozzles depends on the resolution of the printer. It is usually 21 – 128 nozzles per color. The ink gets heated, when the current starts flowing through the metal plates, after the print command is given. The heat causes vapor bubbles to form inside the cartridge and make the ink swell up. The ink then flows out in droplets from the nozzles onto the paper in a few milliseconds. A vacuum is created (once the ink droplet flows out) which draws more ink into the nozzles ensuring a steady supply of droplets as required. This common technique is called Thermal Inkjet and the coinage of the name ‘BubbleJets’ by Canon has been due to the bubbling vapors.

The Laser toners use a more elaborate and complex technology. A powder called Toner is used by laser printers, fax machines and photocopiers to print text and images on laser and photo paper. Initially carbon powder was used but now manufacturers use disposable cartridges which can sometimes be refilled. For the laser toners, individual carbon particles are mixed in a polymer which melt in heat. This binds to the fibers in the paper. The laser printers consist of the printer toner and the drum. The positively charged toner gets attracted to the negatively charged drum. The toner is transferred to the paper by the drum. The toner contains special wax that melts and dries in milliseconds. When the toner is transferred, the fuser applies heat and pressure to make a durable image. The fuser system is made up of the hot-roll and the back-up roller.

The high-end laser printers generally come with networking facilities for you to connect to your computer network directly. This cuts down additional costs associated with networking, as is the case with ink printers. The ink printers cannot be linked to a network directly. Networking has to be via a computer, therefore more expensive.

The laser printers are larger in size than the inkjet printers. The latter is, therefore, space saving and ideal for the home and small office users.

Difference of Quality & Color between Laser and Inkjet Printers -

Since Inkjet Printers spill out tiny droplets of ink to print, the resolution is lower than the laser printers. Laser Printers printer better quality text, as their resolution is higher. High resolution also helps the laser printers create precise fonts without fuzzy edges. However, the cost-effective inkjet printers are usually recommended for inexpensive color printing. These can print high quality text, large photo prints, graphics, banners and greeting cards at less than half the price of a color laser printer. Nevertheless, it should also be seen if the cost of ink and paper suits your maintenance budget. Laser printers are capable of producing good quality prints on all kinds of printing paper but the inkjet printers will require inkjet paper to produce good quality prints without any fuzzy edge brought about by ‘bleeding’.

Difference in Speed between Ink and Laser Printers -

If laser printers lose out to their inkjet counterparts on account of price, they are way ahead when it comes to speed of printing. Users who need large volumes of printing also prefer the laser printers. Laser printers are more suited to general office use than the inkjets. The least expensive laser printer can print around 10 to 15 pages per minute. The inkjets are usually rated on the speed of draft or quick printing mode, which is suitable only for proofreading purposes. The HP Deskjet 5650, which is a fast color inkjet printer, prints at a speed of 21 ppm Black, 15 ppm Color in the draft mode. However, the speed drops considerably when high quality black text is printed and it also takes longer to print a letter-sized quality photo.

Difference in Cost between Ink and Laser Printers -

The most important factor governing the choice of a printer is – cost. The cost can have two sub-categories – initial cost and operating cost- – which finally becomes the deciding factors in a purchase of a consumer item. The inkjet printers have a low initial cost but a higher maintenance cost when compared to the high initial purchase cost and low operating cost of a laser printer. The price of a monochrome laser printer can range from $ 130 (e.g. Brother HL2040) to over $ 3,000 (e.g. HP Q3721A Laserjet 9050) and the price range of color laser printers can be from $ 350 (e.g. Samsung CLP 510) to over $ 6,000 (e.g. HP Q3717A Laserjet 5550hdn). Conversely, the cost of color inkjet printers can range from approximately $ 35 (e.g. HP 9067A Deskjet 3930) to $ 2,000 (e.g. HP C7791D Designjet 130NR). However, laser printers are a better option for long-term office use. They are designed to handle high volumes and have a higher capacity of ink or toner. The ink cartridges require to be replaced often if you print a considerable amount regularly. The toner cartridges, though more expensive than the ink cartridges, hardly need to be replaced. This lowers the total cost per page. The out put of laser printers is good even on cheap paper whereas inkjet printers require special inkjet paper for quality output and this also depends on the grade and type of paper being used.

Cheap recycled or third party ink or toner cartridges are readily available in the market, the use of which reduces the maintenance cost to a great extent. However, you have to be careful while buying these when producing high quality photos and also be sure that the use of these does not cancel your warranty. Since ink cartridges of some new inkjet printers contain computer chips, you may not be able to use recycled or third party cartridges for that particular printer.

Keeping the above factors in mind, it is advisable to calculate the total cost of ownership before purchasing a printer. The initial purchase cost of an inkjet printer may be low but the cost as consumables like paper and ink may exceed your budget. The slow speed and variable print quality of the inkjets are also deterrents. Laser printers are definitely a better buy when the requirements are that of high print quality, speed, high volume and low operating cost over a long period of use.

The printers utilizing inkjet technology were first introduced in the late 1980s and since then have gained much popularity while growing in performance and dropping in price. They are the most common type of computer printers for the general consumer due to their low cost, high quality of output, capability of printing in vivid color, and ease of use. Each printer which works on inkjet technology places extremely small droplets of ink onto paper to create a text or an image. In the personal and small business computer market, inkjet printers currently predominate. Inkjets are usually inexpensive, quiet, reasonably fast, and many models can produce high quality output. Like most modern technologies, the present-day inkjet is built on the progress made by many earlier versions. Among many contributors, Epson, Hewlett-Packard and Canon can claim a substantial share of credit for the development of the modern inkjet technology.

In the worldwide consumer market, four manufacturers account for the majority of inkjet printer sales: Canon, Hewlett-Packard, Epson, and Lexmark. The typical inkjet printer usually includes inkjet printhead assembly, paper feed assembly, power supply, control circuitry and interface ports. The inkjet printhead assembly contains several components. One of them is the printhead which is the core of the inkjet printer and contains a series of nozzles that are used to spray drops of ink. Another printhead component is the inkjet cartridge or inkjet tank. Depending on the manufacturer and model of the printer, ink cartridges come in various combinations, such as separate black and color cartridges, color and black in a single cartridge or even a cartridge for each ink color. The cartridges of some inkjet printers include the print head itself. The printhead along with the inkjet cartridge/s are moved back and forth across the paper by device called a stepper motor using a special belt.

Some printers have an additional stepper motor to park the print head assembly when the printer is not in use which means that the print head assembly is restricted from accidentally moving. The print head assembly uses a stabilizer bar to ensure that movement is precise and controlled. One of the paper feed assembly components is the paper tray or/and paper feeder. Most inkjet printers have a tray that the paper is loaded into. The feeder typically snaps open at an angle on the back of the printer, allowing the paper to be placed in it. Feeders generally do not hold as much paper as a traditional paper tray. A set of rollers pull the paper in from the tray or feeder and advance the paper when the print head assembly is ready for another pass after which another step motor powers the rollers to move the paper in the exact increment needed to ensure a continuous image is printed.

While earlier printers often had an external transformer, most printers sold today use a standard power supply that is incorporated into the printer itself. A small but sophisticated amount of circuitry is built into the printer to control all the mechanical aspects of operation, as well as decode the information sent to the printer from the computer. It is connected to the computer by a cable through the interface port. The interface port can be either parallel port, USB port or SCSI port. The parallel port is still used by many printers, but most newer printers use the USB port. A few printers connect using a serial port or small computer system interface (SCSI) port. Different types of inkjet printers exist based on the method they use to deliver the droplets of ink. There are three main inkjet technologies currently used by printer manufacturers. The thermal bubble technology used by manufacturers such as Canon and Hewlett Packard is commonly referred to as bubble jet. In a thermal inkjet printer, tiny resistors create heat, and this heat vaporizes ink to create a bubble.

As the bubble expands, some of the ink is pushed out of a nozzle onto the paper. When the bubble collapses, a vacuum is created. This pulls more ink into the print head from the cartridge. A typical bubble jet print head has 300 or 600 tiny nozzles, and all of them can fire a droplet simultaneously. Thermal inkjet technology is used almost exclusively in the consumer inkjet printer market. The ink used is usually water-based, pigment-based or dye-based but the print head is produced usually at less cost than other ink jet technologies. Contrary to the bubble jet technology, the piezoelectric technology, patented by Epson, uses piezo crystals. A crystal is located at the back of the ink reservoir of each nozzle. The crystal receives a tiny electric charge that causes it to vibrate. When the crystal vibrates inward, it forces a tiny amount of ink out of the nozzle. When it vibrates out, it pulls some more ink into the reservoir to replace the ink sprayed out.

The continuous inkjet method is used commercially for marking and coding of products and packages. The first patent on the idea is from 1867, by William Thomson. The first commercial model was introduced in 1951 by Siemens. In continuous inkjet technology, a high-pressure pump directs liquid ink from a reservoir through a microscopic nozzle, creating a continuous stream of ink droplets. A piezoelectric crystal causes the stream of liquid to break into droplets at regular intervals. The ink droplets are subjected to an electrostatic field created by a charging electrode as they form. The field is varied according to the degree of drop deflection desired. This results in a controlled, variable electrostatic charge on each droplet. Charged droplets are separated by one or more uncharged “guard droplets” to minimize electrostatic repulsion between neighboring droplets. The charged droplets are then directed (deflected) to the receptor material to be printed by electrostatic deflection plates, or are allowed to continue on undeflected to a collection gutter for reuse.

Continuous inkjet is one of the oldest inkjet technologies in use and is fairly mature. One of its advantages is the very high velocity (~50 m/s) of the ink droplets, which allows the ink drops to be thrown a long distance to the target. Another advantage is freedom from nozzle clogging as the jet is always in use When printing is started, the software application sends the data to be printed to the printer driver which translates the data into a format that the printer can understand and checks to see that the printer is online and available to print. The data is sent by the driver from the computer to the printer via the connection interface. The printer receives the data from the computer. It stores a certain amount of data in a buffer. The buffer can range from 512 KB random access memory (RAM) to 16 MB RAM, depending on the printer model. Buffers are useful because they allow the computer to finish with the printing process quickly, instead of having to wait for the actual page to print. If the inkjet printer has been idle for a period of time, it will normally go through a short cleaning cycle to make sure that the print heads are clean. Once the cleaning cycle is complete, the inkjet printer is ready to begin printing. The control circuitry activates the paper feed stepper motor.

This engages the rollers, which feed a sheet of paper from the paper tray / feeder into the printer. A small trigger mechanism in the tray / feeder is depressed when there is paper in the tray or feeder. If the trigger is not depressed, the inkjet printer lights up the “Out of Paper” LED and sends an alert to the computer. Once the paper is fed into the inkjet printer and positioned at the start of the page, the print head stepper motor uses the belt to move the print head assembly across the page. The motor pauses for the merest fraction of a second each time that the print head sprays dots of ink on the page and then moves a tiny bit before stopping again. This stepping happens so fast that it seems like a continuous motion. Multiple dots are made at each stop. It sprays the CMYK (cyan / magenta / yellow / black) colors in precise amounts to make any other color imaginable. At the end of each complete pass, the paper feed stepper motor advances the paper a fraction of an inch. Depending on the inkjet printer model, the print head is reset to the beginning side of the page, or, in most cases, simply reverses direction and begins to move back across the page as it prints. This process continues until the page is printed. The time it takes to print a page can vary widely from printer to printer. It will also vary based on the complexity of the page and size of any images on the page. Once the printing is complete, the print heads are parked. The paper feed stepper motor spins the rollers to finish pushing the completed page into the output tray.

Most inkjet printers today use inkjet inks that are very fast-drying, so that you can immediately pick up the sheet without smudging it. Compared to earlier consumer-oriented printers, inkjet printers have a number of advantages. They are quieter in operation than impact dot matrix printers or daisywheel printers. They can print finer, smoother details through higher printhead resolution, and many inkjet printers with photorealistic-quality color printing are widely available. In comparison to more expensive technologies like thermal wax, dye sublimations, and laser printers, the inkjet printers have the advantage of practically no warm-up time and lower cost per page (except when compared to laser printers).

The disadvantages of the inkjet printers include flimsy print heads (prone to clogging) and expensive inkjet cartridges. This typically leads value-minded consumers to consider laser printers for medium-to-high volume printer applications. Other disadvantages include ink bleeding, where ink is carried sideways away from the desired location by the capillary effect; the result is a muddy appearance on some types of paper. Most inkjet printer manufacturers also sell special clay-treated paper designed to reduce bleeding. Because the ink used in most inkjet cartridges and ink tanks is water-soluble, care must be taken with inkjet-printed documents to avoid even the smallest drop of water, which can cause severe “blurring” or “running.”

Besides the well known small inkjet printers for home and office, there is a market for professional inkjet printers; some being for page-width format printing, and most being for wide format printing. “Page-width format” means that the print width ranges from about 8.5″ to 37″. “Wide format” means that these are inkjet printers ranging in print width from 24″ up to 15′. The application of the page-width inkjet printers is for printing high-volume business communications that have a lesser need for flashy layout and color. Particularly with the addition of variable data technologies, the page-width inkjet printers are important in billing, tagging, and individualized catalogs and newspapers. The application of most of the wide format inkjet printers is for printing advertising graphics; a minor application is printing of designs by architects or engineers.
